Lucid dreams are different from normal dreaming. The technique involved with lucid dreaming is to be conscious that you are in a dream state rather than just letting your dreams happen as and when they feel like it. There are a number of lucid dreaming techniques that you can use to help this to happen:
Chakotay uses lucid dreaming techniques practiced by his people to escape the collective unconscious. With chemical assistance provided by the Doctor he manages to stay awake long enough to locate the planet that is generating the neurogenic field which is keeping the crew unconscious and asleep. He then transports to the surface of the planet and finds a large cavern where thousands of the aliens appear in a state of sleep. He orders The Doctor to target the cave with a photon torpedo and destroy it if he does not hear from Chakotay in five minutes. Chakotay then wakes one of the aliens and orders him to turn off the field or he will open fire. Before he can take any further action, Chakotay falls asleep due to exhaustion and once again enters the dream. There, he tells the aliens that they will all be killed if they do not stop this dream immediately after which they comply and allow Voyager to proceed. The only side effect to this encounter is insomnia.
Things to Keep in Mind Lucid dreaming is not exactly the same as dream control. It is just possible to have a little control over your dream and become lucid. However, a lucid dreamer knows how to influence their dream events or do the impossible toward their dreams. This helps people minimize nightmares upon controlling their dreams. Lucid dreams are often described as dreams with consciousness. It is completely different from normal dreaming or nightmares wherein consciousness is lost while you are asleep.
Realize The next one is to realize your dream. You will need to practice letting yourself know that you are indeed dreaming. You can try out running so fast that you know you can’t do in real life for an instance. That will be your indicator that you are dreaming and not awake. Once you have established this realization that you are dreaming, you are now close to lucid dreaming. In order for you to become a full pledged lucid dreamer, you will then need to shape up the things that you want to control over your dreams, this takes a lot of practice and even long months on the run.
Whether you would like the world to dance on your own tune, or become president of the United States, lucid dreaming will be free for you to do have. You can dream of whatever you may like whether to reunite with a long lost lover or friend, or even a relative who passed away. You drive your own dream. You should keep a positive attitude on believing that you can do it. You may want to make it as fictional as you wish. The best thing in lucid dreaming is not only you have the ability to control your dreams, but the fact that you can also remember it when you wake up in the morning. This gives lucid dreamers a positive attitude towards real life. It will give you extraordinary strength to wake up each day with contentment and a glowing positive aura. This is the most exciting experience that no one can ever take it away from you.
Waking Life is about an unnamed young man living an ethereal existence that lacks transitions between everyday events and that eventually progresses toward an existential crisis. For most of the film he observes quietly but later participates actively in philosophical discussions involving other characters—ranging from quirky scholars and artists to everyday restaurant-goers and friends—about such issues as metaphysics, free will, social philosophy, and the meaning of life. Other scenes do not even include the protagonist’s presence, but rather, show an isolated person or couple speaking about such topics from a disembodied perspective. Along the way, the film touches also upon existentialism, situationist politics, posthumanity, the film theory of André Bazin, and lucid dreaming, and makes references to various celebrated intellectual and literary figures by name.
Dream incubation is a practiced technique of learning to “plant a seed” in the mind, in order for a specific dream topic to occur, either for recreation or to attempt to solve a problem. For example, a person might go to bed repeating to themselves that they will dream about a presentation they have coming up, or a vacation they recently took. While somewhat similar to lucid dreaming, dream incubation is simply focusing attention on a specific issue when going to sleep.
