Earth Wind Fire Water Very Powerful Dream Symbols

As in nature and metaphysics earth wind fire and water are very powerful elements in nature any one of these can ether destroy or nourish you. These symbols can be found in just about any culture and always have significant meanings in their beliefs.

The ancient Greeks called Earth, Air, and Fire and Water the four elements. They thought that these elements had characteristics that could symbolize abstract concepts. Earth symbolizes stability and practicality. Air symbolizes the communication of ideas. Fire symbolizes passion. Water symbolizes emotion.

To see these elements in your dreams symbolizes very important aspects of your waking life and should not be taken likely.

Earth:

In dreams, Earth can symbolize our physical experiences. Jung would say that it symbolizes sensation. People who are realistic and pragmatic, as well as people who are inclined to focus more on their body and their physical surroundings, are the most prone to have dreams with Earth symbols.

To notice the earth in your dream symbolizes that you need to be “grounded” and realistic. Possibly your sense of stability and security is lacking. Think about the stability of the earth for additional meaning on how you are feeling. If the earth splits open, then it symbolizes a project or relationship that you are scared of falling into.

To notice the planet Earth in your dream symbolizes unity and global consciousness. You are interconnected with the world

Air:

To dream about the air, symbolizes creativity and intelligence. If the air is foggy or polluted, then it suggests that your thought process or mind is clouded.

To feel cold air in your dream symbolizes discordance in your domestic relations and setbacks in your business affairs. You may be in danger of losing touch with reality.

To dream that you are breathing hot air symbolizes the influence of evil in your life.

Dreaming that you are suffocating might mean that you do not have sufficient freedom to express yourself or to exercise your intelligence to its full capacity. Episodes of sleep paralysis can feel like you are being suffocated.

Wind can symbolize the direction and force of your intelligence or your emotions. What is the wind in your dream like? Is it refreshing like a cool breeze on a hot summer’s day? Maybe it is carrying you or enabling you to fly. Is it destructive like a tornado or a hurricane?

To dream that the wind is blowing, symbolizes your life force, energy, and vigor. It reflects changes in your life. Alternatively, the dream suggests that you need to pick up your pace and work on achieving your goals more quickly and efficiently.

To dream of strong or gusty winds, symbolizes disorder and trouble in your life. You are experiencing a lot of stress in some waking situation.

Fire:

Depending on the circumstance of your dream, to see fire in your dream can symbolize destruction, passion, desire, illumination, purification, transformation, enlightenment, or anger. It might suggest that something old is exiting and something new is entering into your life. Your thoughts and views are changing. In particular, if the fire is under control or contained in one area, then it is a metaphor of your own internal fire and inner transformation. The dream may be a metaphor for someone who is “fiery”. It symbolizes your drive, motivation, and creative energy. Alternatively, the dream may be a warning of your dangerous or risky activities. You are literally “playing with fire”.

To dream that you are being burned by fire symbolizes that your temper is getting out of control.  Some issue or situation is burning you up inside.

To dream that a house is on fire symbolizes that you need to go through some transformation. If you have recurring dreams of your family house on fire, then it suggests that you are still not ready for the change or that you are resisting the change. Alternatively, it highlights passion and the love of those around you.

To dream that you put out a fire symbolizes that you will overcome the obstacles in your life through hard work. If you are setting a fire to something or even to yourself, then it symbolizes that you are undergoing some great distress. You are at the brink of desperation and want to destroy something or some aspect of yourself.

Water:

To see water in your dream, symbolizes your unconscious and your emotional state of mind. Water is the living essence of the psyche and the flow of life energy. It is also symbolic of spirituality, knowledge, healing and refreshment. To dream that water is boiling, suggests that you are expressing some emotional turmoil. Feelings from your unconscious are surfacing and ready to be acknowledged. You need to let out some steam.

To see calm, clear water in your dream means that you are in tune with your spirituality. It denotes serenity, peace of mind, and rejuvenation.

To see muddy or dirty water in your dream symbolizes that you are wallowing in your negative emotions. Alternatively, the dream suggests that your thinking or judgment is unclear and clouded. If you are immersed in muddy water, then it symbolizes that you are in over your head in a situation and are overwhelmed by your emotions.

To dream that water is rising up in your house, suggests that you are becoming overwhelmed by your emotions.

To hear running water in your dream denotes meditation and reflection. You are reflecting on your thoughts and emotions.

To dream that you are walking on water symbolizes that you have total control over your emotions. It also suggests that you need to “stay on top” of your emotions and not let them explode out of hand. Alternatively, the dream is symbolic of faith in yourself.

It seems that having a dream takes on a dieenrfft and deeper aspect as we get older. Lyn, I can’t say I have specific dreams either, but thanks for making me feel less bothered about it. As to having a parallel universe, Ray, I think that is a great idea. I’m going to start working on dreams I can drift into and relax . whether of simple things like a gorgeous meal, practical things like a white beach and bright sunshine, or lots of campervanning holidays!

Okay so I dream about being able to control fire and water. What does it mean? Like, I feel like I am able to maybe just maybe control one of them. I feel this way because when ever I spread my fingers and concentrate I feel my hand heat up but never to the point where it burns just where it gets hot. So I do not get it, do my dreams mean something or do I actually have this power?
